Starre Vartan is a science journalist specializing in biotech, health and environment. She is the author of The Stronger Sex: What science tells us about the power of the female body (Hachette, 2025), and is a regular contributor to National Geographic, Scientific American and CNN. She has also written for Undark, Slate, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, New York Magazine and more. She splits her life and work between the Illawarra coast of Australia and the Pacific Northwest of the US.
