News organisations that publish on the Net have rejected a proposal from the
US administration to rate their Web sites according to how much sex and violence
they contain. Late last month CNN Interactive, Reuters New Media, Associated
Press and 20 others said that because they regularly report on violent and
sexual crimes, a ratings system would deter people from viewing their sites.
