In his introduction to Twister: The Original Screenplay (Arrow, £6.99,
ISBN 0 09 922262 0), co-author Michael Crichton explains that attempts to place
measuring instruments in the funnel of a tornado have now been abandoned by
scientists. Luckily, nobody told storm-chaser Jo Wilder, who risks death by
flying vehicles into tornadoes on several occasions in this entertaining
screenplay.
