You don’t have to be a train spotter to enjoy Architecture of Rail: The Way Ahead by Marcus Binney (Academy Editions, £29.50, ISBN 1 85490 396 9), but it helps. This generously illustrated homage to the most modern railway stations in Europe and Hong Kong, from the imposing Marne la Vallée-Chessy at Eurodisney in Paris to the spectacular Abando planned for Bilbao, Spain, pins the architectural revival firmly on the skills of innovative structural engineers. And so it should.
