Nippon Electric has a neat way to help people with camera phones take decent pictures of themselves (GB 2 400 261). The front of NEC’s new phone has a camera lens, set in the middle of an LCD screen which has a reflective back plate. When switched on, the screen displays the time, plus the usual phone menu information or a text message. But switched off, the screen behaves like a mirror. This makes it easy to centre your face in the middle of the screen and take a self-portrait.
