Soccer fans will able to watch the World Cup 2002 online for the first time in the tournament’s history. Highlights from all 64 matches in Japan and South Korea will be available over the Net on a site dedicated to the World Cup hosted by Yahoo (). But it comes at a price. Fans will have to pay £14 for the service, which will show four-minute video clips of action for each game. These will only be available some hours after the matches have finished. Despite a blanket ban preventing other websites from showing clips, the move is seen by sports broadcasters as an improvement on the 2000 Olympics, none of which could be watched online.
