Anyone who dreams of being a drummer in a rock band will welcome John Sagastegui鈥檚 electronic tutor (WO 02/45071). The difficult part of learning the basics of percussion is knowing which hand to use and when, especially if all you鈥檝e got to practise on is a silent rubber drum pad. Metronomes will help you keep time but won鈥檛 tell you which hand to use, so Sagastegui鈥檚 e-tutor tells the student which hand to use using visual signals. The tutor flashes a timed sequence of left and right lights onto the drum pad to tell the student when to use their left and right hands. It also generates timing sounds to reinforce the visual signals.
