Want to stay alert but don鈥檛 fancy drinking a whole pot of coffee? Or fancy
an easy way to take a dose of painkillers or antibiotics? Wrigley of Chicago
says a chewing gum that releases drugs into your mouth could do the trick (WO
01/21156). The firm鈥檚 research shows that chewing will force drugs through the
tissues lining your mouth into the bloodstream. This gets drugs into your system
much more effectively than swallowing them, because they don鈥檛 get broken down
by gut enzymes.
