Twenty-two people have been arrested in Thailand for drug dealing on the
Internet, it emerged last week. The massive clampdown followed a joint operation
by the US and Thai authorities. Many of the drugs, including steroids,
tranquillisers and Viagra, can only be obtained with a prescription in the US,
but are readily available over the counter in Thai pharmacies. Orders are placed
via the Internet and drugs are mailed to post office boxes
(New Scientist, 4 March, p 16).
