A new dial-up home-help robot could pass someone a cup of tea—or even
massage their back, claims a Japanese robotics company called Thames. Its Tmsuk
robot allows a remote carer to use hand and arm controls to manipulate the robot
over a video-capable mobile phone link. The 100-kilogram machine is not cheap,
however, retailing at £28 000.
