Crane games in amusement arcades let players try to grab a stale bar of
chocolate or a faded teddy with a mechanical grab. Now Stephen Shoemaker of
Redondo Beach, California, thinks it鈥檚 time these games were updated (W0
98/55192). His console replaces the grab with a light sensor which is moved over
a screen showing a maze of obstacles, penalty areas and pictures of prizes. To
win a prize, players move the sensor onto its image, and a voucher is printed
out for them to exchange for the prize.
