Junk e-mailers driven off the Internet by anti-spam campaigners are
back—but this time the recipients will have given their consent. Global
Technology Marketing started off as a base for spammers who wanted to deluge Net
users with unsolicited advertisements. But the company failed to secure its own
connection to the Internet, forcing it to rely on Internet service providers who
are opposed to spam. GTM has now agreed to restrict its mailings to customers
who sign up to its service.
