UNFORTUNATELY it will take more than a small, well-intentioned group to
improve hackers鈥� public image. Bill Clinton for one is convinced that hackers
and terrorists are one and the same thing and is preparing legislation to tackle
both. His actions follow a call by Jamie Gorelick, the deputy attorney general,
for 鈥渁 new Manhattan Project鈥� to 鈥渉elp us harden our infrastructures against
attack鈥�. If this new project is anything like the last one a lot of people are
going to get hurt.
